You Don’t Have To Quit Smoking on Your Own

Counselors from our Tobacco Treatment Program provide support and develop a personalized plan to help you quit for good

Tobacco is a powerful addiction. The average smoker tries to quit six times before he’s successful while others are never able to throw away their cigarettes. You can significantly increase your chances of quitting for good with the help of Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network’s Tobacco Treatment Program.

If you’re considering quitting or if you’re ready to stop using tobacco, our 12-month counseling program can help. Our nationally certified tobacco addiction specialists will develop a plan personalized to fit your specific needs. We’ll help you change your daily routine so you can avoid things that cause you to crave a cigarette. We’ll provide emotional support and tips on how to handle a cigarette craving so you don’t have a relapse. Plus, we’ll consult with your primary care physician to prescribe nicotine replacement products (e.g. nicotine patch, gum or lozenge) to help relieve some of your withdrawal symptoms.

You have the option to talk with one of our counselors face-to-face or over the phone. You may find telephone counseling to be more convenient and comfortable because you can talk from the privacy of your own home.

Once you’ve made the first step by signing up for the program, a tobacco treatment counselor will:

  • Gather your tobacco use history and medical information
  • Determine your stage of readiness to stop using tobacco
  • Develop your personalized plan
  • Provide you with support throughout the quitting process
  • Help you choose a date when you will quit

After you’ve successfully reached your quit date, our counselors will contact you to see how you’re doing on your one, three, six and 12 month quit-date anniversaries. If you think you’ll need more frequent contact with your counselors, arrangements can be made.

All our tobacco cessation services are available at all three Lehigh Valley Hospital and Health Network campuses.
